8. What is a Power of Attorney, and when do you need it?
There are many situations in life in which you may need to appoint someone to make legal and financial decision on your behalf – such as while you are travelling or when you are sick or injured, and you need someone to deal with your bills, give instruction to your banks, sign contract on your behalf, purchase or sell property, and attend to your personal affairs if you become disabled. These are just some of the reasons why you need an attorney to act for you.
There are two types of Power of Attorney: enduring and general. We listen to your situation and we can assist you in establishing the appropriate Power of Attorney for your unique circumstances. The Power of Attorney Act requires that a designated attorney must be a competent adult, at least 19 years of age.
